Hi everyone
This looks like a fantastic day below, for quite a reasonable price!
I can't make it along, but if you're a GEM Scotland member and you're going along, I'd love to hear how it goes!
Thanks,
Sarah

Subject: Conference on Article 31
Dear Sarah Cowie, Museums Education Officer, East Lothian Council Museums Service,
I am delighted to be sending you the brochure promoting the Conference:
Article 31- children's right to culture, leisure and play. What does this mean for Scotland's children?
We would really appreciate if you could assist the marketing of this event by placing information on your website, facebook page, newsletters and emails.
International Play Association (IPA) Scotland is pleased to present a one-day conference on Thursday 28th March 2013 in Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh celebrating the launch of the General Comment on article 31 of the UNCRC. The event is delivered in partnership with Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People, with support from Creative Scotland; and in association with the Richer Understanding of Article 31 Group.
The conference: "What does this mean for Scotland's children? Article 31- children's right to culture, leisure and play." will celebrate and raise awareness of the adoption of the UN General Comment on article 31, and to explore how policy-makers and practitioners can make the expectations of the UN General Comment a reality in Scotland.
Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in discussions and workshops looking at what the General Comment is; how we can share skills, knowledge and practice to uphold article 31 rights within work and practice; and identify opportunities for collaborative work and practice.
Of course, as this is also a celebration we hope delegates will have fun!
The day is aimed at policy and decision makers, and pracitioners within the fields of culture, leisure, play and human rights.
We have a rich programme of speakers and workshops including:
• Children from St Mirins Out of School Care, Glasgow
• Aileen Campbell MSP, Minister for Children and Young People
• Tam Baillie, Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People
• Theresa Casey, President, International Play Association
• Dr Bridget McConnell, Chief Executive, Glasgow Life
• Joanne Orr, Chief Executive, Galleries Musesums Scotland
• Dr Richard Holloway
• GoMA
• Starcatchers UK
• People's Palace Glasgow
• PlayFirst Scotland
Additional workshops and presenters to be confirmed.
The International Play Association Scotland are also asking for your help to publicise this event by placing this information on your website and in newsletters, emails etc.
For further information please see the attached conference brochure or email [log in to unmask]
I look forward to receiving your booking.
