Morning everyone,
Just wanted to send round the URL of a new research project I’m involved in ‘how should decisions about heritage be made?’: http://codesignheritage.wordpress.com/ It’s a bit of an unusual research project as we don’t exactly know what it’s about yet!
This is because a team of people from lots of different types of organisations, groups and communities are going to work together to explore the issues raised by heritage decision-making and then design the research questions and its methods. Our team includes museums, other heritage organisations and local groups, funders and researchers and we’re currently on the hunt for a couple of HLF All Our Stories groups to join us (all projects across the north have been directly invited).
So the plan is that between February and May 2013 we’ll design the research and then we’ll carry it out for 12 months from July 2013. We’re going to design the research project through workshops, lots of discussion with people we work with in our own organizations and communities, through a ‘day in the life’ swap (so we get to see ‘heritage decision-making’ through other people’s eyes). We’ll also be reaching out with various dilemmas and conundrums via this list and others!
The research is funded as a Co-Design Development project by the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Connected Communities programme and if you’re interested in hearing more then you can follow our blog via the link above or drop me a line and I’ll add you to our mailing list.
Best wishes, Helen
