Hello everyone,
First I would like to quickly introduce myself, I am a PhD student at Loughborough Design School , UK. My PhD is investigating the relationship between academics’ and practitioners’ theories of design thinking.
I found the list of literature and discussion regarding design thinking interesting and useful. However I am surprise to see the work of Bruce Archer, former Professor of Design Research at the Royal College of Art absent from the list. He was one of the drivers behind design thinking and the design methods movement in the UK.
Some of his more notable research would be the King's Fund Hospital Bed for the NHS during the 60s, where he introduced the evidence based design research process into medical product design; now an integral part of product design practice. Furthermore he has also introduce the idea of design being the third area of education when researchers were defining design as a discipline during the 70s. There he highlighted the possibility of design not belonging to humanities or science as design should have its own language and methodology ie design thinking.
Below are some of the papers that are written by Archer himself as well as those that featured his work.
Design as a discipline by Bruce Archer:

Design: Occasional Paper No.1 Modelling: The Language of Designing by Phil Roberts, Bruce Archer, Ken Baynes:

Note: See this paper for Archer's viewpoint on the relationship between cognitive modelling and design.
Design: Occasional Paper No.4 Models of change: the impact of 'designerly thinking' on people's lives and the environment: seminar 2 … modelling and design by Ken Baynes

Note: See this paper for the King's Fund Bed project
I hope these could be useful additions to the growing list of literature.
