Dear All (apologies if you have just received this: I think it only sent the attachments and not the message before),
Just advertising the final festive event in the busy year of activity for GEM Yorkshire & Humberside which will take place at Leeds City Museum in the Learning Space, and is hosted by Esther Amis-Hughes on Friday 14 December, 10am-12.30pm.
Treasured! Smuggled? Stolen? Saved? is Leeds Museums and Galleries’ response to Precious Cargo/Stories of the World, and is part of the London 2012 cultural Olympiad. What makes this exhibition truly extraordinary is that it was devised, written, designed, curated and marketed by a group of volunteers aged 16-23.
This session will give some background to the project, including practical tips and lessons, and involve a tour of the gallery. Some members of the group of young people are hoping to be present to give their own perspective on the experience.
Feel free to stay later and look around the museum, Esther is happy to give a tour and talk to people!
