Dear all,
An old friend who works in a planetarium sent me the following message
recently and I thought GEM might be able to make some suggestions.
"In the British Association of Planetaria, we have an member who tells
stories of the old days and his experiences in a mobile dome (and
other stuff too) in excellent up-north monologue style. He's great.
Very funny and listenable.
At our conference, I entreated him to make podcasts as I'd love to
listen to him rambling on while driving on long motorway journeys, and
it'd also be great just to record all this for posterity.
However, this is proving difficult as his computer is too slow and
keeps glitching, plus the sound quality is too poor. To complicate
matters, he is near-blind so it's difficult for him to learn new
software etc.
I was wondering whether you knew of any organisations that might be
interested in recording him? He is based in Hartlepool. Is this
something that would be worth me following up? Or is there just no
funding for such non-specifics and therefore unlikely to be anyone up
for this?"
Has anyone got any suggestions for places who would be interested in
recording the memories of an old museum/planetarium worker? Sounds
fascinating stuff, are memories of museum work recorded?
Any thoughts very welcome. Many thanks,
Rosie Barker
