Dear list - please see below for details on a consultancy opportunity for anyone providing interpretation services
Interpretation concept and design brief for English Heritage– invitation to provide quotation
Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden in Warwickshire is one of the largest historic attractions in the West Midlands.
The spectacular castle ruins are best known as the home of Robert Dudley, the great love of Queen Elizabeth I. Dudley created an ornate palace here to impress his Queen in 1575.
In 2012-13 English Heritage will be installing a raised platform which will provide stunning views and give access to Elizabeth’s bedroom for the first time since the 16th century
We need a consultant to work with us to develop a concept and brief for a design company to create some new interpretation in this stunning new development
The project will include
- a very small number of new on-site interpretive panels
- reviewing the current exhibition in the gatehouse to explore the potential for using additional collections
- looking at the visitor route, links to existing exhibitions, links to the current audio guide, existing orientation information and directional signage and identifying changes which need to be made
You will need to meet with project staff and quickly understand the key issues the development presents. You will then develop a concept for new on-site interpretation and draw up a brief for the appointment of a design consultancy to take the project through to delivery by March 2013.
This is not a large interpretation scheme and we anticipate that it will not take more than a few days work to develop a concept and brief for designers.
The concept and brief will need to be ready by the end of October 2012.
If you are interested in this contract please provide a quotation detailing what will be achieved, a timeline and a daily rate.
