Hello Ali,
We've been working on the MyVoice project here in Kent on behalf of the Reading Agency and our local library authority. The aim is to support young people to become MyVoice Champions, creating their own events in local public libraries for the benefit of their peers and the wider public. MyVoice takes its focus from the written word but supports young people to explore their love of reading and their advocacy for the library service through a wide range of creative art forms. Our group led a storytelling session for local young children and their families and a murder mystery event for peers at school.
Check out the MyVoice website, last year they ran Champion training for new volunteers and also digital training to support YP to blog their activities.
We also run the Arts Award to accredit the work that they are doing, it’s a great incentive to be involved and gives a useful structure to the work they do.
There are MyVOice groups in your area (based in Westminster I believe).
I'm happy to talk to you further about the work we've been doing and delivering through the Arts Award.
Best wishes,
Julie

Subject: Youth Forums
Dear All,
I have recently started a part time role with the British Library as Regional Projects Manager, based with the Learning Team. Part of my role is to follow up on a successful youth project and create a youth forum based in London for young people aged 16-24. I am very interested to find out how other organisations structure their youth forums and how young people then engage with the organisation. For instance do they run their own events or are they more engaged in advising on general development? Do they gain work experience or other forms of experience.
How do you recruit your young people?
I would love to hear from anyone who is willing to share plans/ structure diagrams/ provide general information.
Best Wishes
Ali Bodley
Regional Projects Manager
