The final one from me for a while...so I'll make it a good one.
In Canterbury we have lots of animal paintings by the Victorian artist Thomas Sidney Cooper, also known as 'Cow' Cooper after the beasts he was most famous for painting.
We thought a lovely activity for small children would be to have a big reproduction of a Cooper landscape in a low level frame on the wall, with magnetic animals for children to stick on and move around to create their own animal painting.
My current thinking is steel backboard covered with a blow up photograph of landscape with scratch resistant finish and picture frame surround.
Then photos of animals printed onto magnetic fabric or on resin blocks with magnetic base.
Does any one know where this type of activity has been done before, or can recommend suppliers, or a better way of doing it?
We already have the fuzzy felt alternative as a table based activity, plus ideas and art materials for drawing animals.
Again very happy to share feedback.
Many thanks for the excellent responses on stained glass activities, and on costumed interpreters. I'll collate and share the stained glass activity ideas with the list next week.
Best wishes
Martin
