Creative Workshop Artist/Facilitator
Tales of the City: Digital Stories from Young People in Brighton (Part of Brighton Photo Biennial 2012)
A freelance opportunity for an artist/designer working with photography & digital technology/animation.
application deadline: 15 June 2012
Photoworks, the UK’s leading agency for photography, in partnership with Brighton & Hove Libraries Service, wishes to appoint an artist/designer working with photography and/or digital technology/animation to facilitate a series of workshops with young people and families enabling participants to create digital stories using photography. Processes may include stop frame animation, timelapse photography or digital animation (e.g. using Final Cut, or an ipad), or other related processes. The outcomes will be presented as part of Brighton Photo Biennial 2012.
Extensive experience of working in an educational context with young people, and of managing multi-agency/partnership projects is essential. As is a strong understanding of the technology and processes involved in creating and disseminating digital stories.
The role of the Creative Workshop Artist Facilitator is to lead a programme of practical workshops with a group of young people in East Brighton. The workshops will respond to the themes of Brighton Photo Biennial 2012 and result in a series of digital stories and also Saturday drop in workshops for families (led by the young people, mentored by the lead artist/designer).
The workshop programme will enable the young people to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary for them to create their own digital stories. In addition, it will include training enabling the young people to then share their skills with others through hands-on, informal drop in workshops aimed at young families. The Artist Facilitator will work with participants to identify themes that closely relate to the curatorial themes of BPB 2012.
