I brought up the issue of terrible pay months ago in regard to another museum I better not mention. One contributor spouted on justifying the pay offered. No. You're wrong. Don't offer a job under a living wage, esp in London, and esp at the British Museum. Sell the Elgin Marbles and pay people a decent wage, if you have to. Or don't offer it at all. I have worked at the Castle Museum in Norwich where extremely skilled and knowledgeable staff have been decimated (almost literally) by the way they have been treated by the management - who have all kept their jobs. If the BM have any sense of social justice they'll amend this. If they don't, they better take a good look round their vast building to see it doesn't highlight other injustices in our or the world's past.
