FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT IN DESIGN (STUDIO PRACTICE)
TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DESIGN PROGRAM
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS
The Design Program at the University of California, Davis, invites
applications for a new faculty position in
one or more design disciplines. The appointment will be made at the
Assistant Professor, tenure-track
level. Applicants must demonstrate potential for leadership in one or more
of the following design
disciplines: exhibition design, fashion design, industrial design, interior
architecture, lighting design, textile
design, and visual communication. Applicants must possess a masters or
doctoral degree in their main
field. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to interact collaboratively
at program level and with other
disciplines at the university level, and to establish meaningful connections
to broader academic,
professional, client and industrial communities. Applicants must demonstrate
the ability to conduct a
program of outstanding research and creative work in such research areas as
design practice, methods
and history, design education, environmental sustainability, studio practice
and methods, design and
technology, writing/criticism as related to design, etc. Applicants must
have the ability to contribute to the
service activities and intellectual life of the program and the university.
Studio format teaching experience
is required, and the ability to teach in more than one design discipline
will be considered an advantage.
Applicants must be able to teach in, and contribute to the development of,
every level of design’s
graduate and undergraduate programs. Appointment commences July 1, 2012. The
