I was surprised to find that a few trees are actually mentioned as boundary
markers in some A-S property charters.

They are certainly mentioned as marking the boundaries of Bradford (on
Avon)Wiltshire, and I 'think' for the now deserted village of
Rowley/Wittenham which was just over the border in Somerset from Westwood.
