GP requests for troponin are usually only for late confirmation when a
yes/no answer is required. They should not be used for acute
confirmation, the patient should go to hospital.

Subject: Troponin TnT-hs and Primary Care requests
In the light of the developing guidelines for high sensitivity Trop T
where there is no consensus for a single sample request, is it
reasonable to offer the test to GP's in primary care who often cannot
provide the twin sample 6 hours apart necessay for rule in / out?
