Hello,
Thanks to all who replied to an earlier query of mine on the social value of
historic houses/sites. Very helpful and much appreciated!
Further to that, I am now looking for examples of historic houses/sites that
work with their communities/visitors to "do history," plan and enact the
interpretation of the house/site together - and thereby share authority with
them. (The co-creation that Nina Simon talks about in her book, The
Participatory Museum, but applied specifically to historic houses/sites)
I know about:
- the Tenement Museum (US)
- Cliveden (US)
- Brucemore (US)
- Stork House (US)
- London Voices (UK)
- Seaton DeLaval Village (UK)
- Hogarth's House in West London (UK)
- Aston Hall (UK)
- Ferme Heritage Miner (Canada)
Do you know of any other historic houses/sites where this is happening or
about to happen?
Many thanks! Happy to share link to final talk for which this research is
destined.
Cheers,
Chris
