Hi everyone,
Parliament's Education Service has launched a new exciting youth film competition (with accompanying training days). Please circulate the following to anyone you think might be interested in participating.
Lights, Camera, Parliament!
What law would you make?
Young people aged 11-16 across the UK are invited to think of a law they'd like to make, and then to create a short film about it!
'Lights, Camera, Parliament!' is a project for teachers and youth workers looking to inspire young people to have their say, and to think about democracy and law making in a fresh and creative way. The laws they suggest can be about anything they care about and want to change!
Parliament's Education Service provides support to help delivery of this project with resource packs, lesson plans, tips on law making and film making. We are also offering free CPD training days in October 2010.
19th Oct 2010 Leeds
21st Oct 2010 Bristol (TBC)
22nd Oct 2010 London
26th Oct 2010 Edinburgh
28th Oct 2010 Belfast (TBC)
Groups selected as finalists will be invited to the Houses of Parliament for a Winners' Day! They will have the opportunity to screen and discuss their films with a judging panel of MPs, Peers and film professionals, as well as the chance to win prizes on the day.
The final date for submission of films is Friday 14th January 2011
