Renaissance South East are offering free places on this practical one day
course (see below). However numbers are strictly limited to 15 and will be
allocated on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to
museums in the South East. If you would like to attend from outside the
region, please contact me to be put on a waiting list. I will then allocate
any remaining places on 23 June.
Free training day - Using new media to engage with audiences

Have you heard about Twitter and Flickr but not used them? Not sure how new
technology could improve your communication with audiences? This day could
be the answer.
This practical course exploring the learning potential of new media is ideal
for museums looking to expand the ways in which they engage with audiences.
The day will provide an introduction to a wide range of exciting new media
tools and their possible use with different audiences. Participants will
work in pairs to create their own short film without the need for
time-consuming editing as well as seeing a step-by-step demonstration of how
to create a podcast.
No previous experience required beyond basic familiarity with a computer.

Learning outcomes:
By the end of the day participants will:
€ understand the terms new media and social media
€ be aware of ways in which museums can use new media
€ understand how a short podcast can be produced and put online
€ have developed the skills to produce a two-minute film suitable
for uploading to the web
€ be confident to put some of the ideas explored into action
