Dear all
Here is the summary of responses to my question on advertising to families.
Many were very positive about Primary Times which, it transpires, does
distribute through Hampshire, although it was about the only county missing
on their website. People mentioned that it is consistently good for reaching
families with primary age children and you can send free info for the diary
as well as paying for an ad.
Other ideas included:
€ local newspaper: especially free editorial rather than advertising,
although also advertising
€ postcard size flyers to local schools in the area, so children can take
them home in their book bags. If they bring the card back in with them,
they get a stamp or sticker.
€ flyers to school children
€ If you have good contacts with the local school they are often happy to
put details in the school newsletter to parents
€ museum websites. Evaluations show that most of our
families find out about our events through our website.
€ daily what's on websites
€ we had a Family Trail in the summer and produced a booklet which was
distributed via Museums, Libraries, Schools and TICs. It seemed very
successful
€ mail drops of leaflets through letterboxes in targeted areas
Hope this is helpful to you all
