here seen on the interior south face of the north tower of Chartres cathedral,
is a not uncommon one in "romanesque" sculpture.
Jan van der Meulen wrote an article on this iconography, but it is in some
rather obscure Festschrift and i can't find my reference to it (anyone?).
Chartres (which Emile Male thought of as "encyclopedic") also has bows and
