With one in ten Londoners living in a housing association property, Housing
Associations are an often overlooked route for arts and heritage organisations
to engage with new contacts and potential new audiences. Join Audiences
London and South London Gallery to hear existing case studies, to exchange
ideas and for a tour and discussion with residents of the Sceaux Gardens
Estate to have your questions answered about how working together has led
to:
A really free bring and take flea market
A mobile conference bringing together young people, artists and Demos
A musical performed on Sceaux Gardens estate
6 artists residences
A long term relationship between SLG and the Sceaux Gardens Tenants
and Residents Association (TRA)
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
explain how Housing Associations in London are structured and how they
operate
identify how your audience development objectives can be met in
partnership with Housing Associations
list different models of working and good practice, referring to local,
national and international examples
This session is designed for cultural organisations looking to work with housing
or similar associations - either as an integral part of their community
engagement work or as a starting point for engaging their local population with
their artistic and participatory programmes.
