I am very interested in the evaluation of education activities and programmes.
All my education activities for schools are delivered by freelancers, and
although teachers are given feedback forms and encouraged to return them in
the pre paid and addressed envelopes, none ever come back, so I am exploring
other ways of evaluating.
Lifelong learning activites tend to happen in day long events, and we have
been using a 'target' with 4 headings and sticky dots for people to add where
they feel is most appropriate, which captures instant reactions to the event
but doesn't give us any in depth qualitative evaluation.
Is your evaluation of a school visit/learning experience focussed on how it was
for teachers (was our booking process straightforward, were the staff helpful,
do you feel your visit supported an aspect of the curriculum, was the activity
at the right level for your group etc etc) or do you focus on what the children
learnt by asking them questions or engaging them in other activies?
Do you measure childrens knowledge and uinderstanding before and after they
engage with your activities?
Do you do any extended evaluation of the impact on the pupils several months
down the line?
Do you use evaluation forms, interviews, or more innovative methods?
I am being pushed in the direction of evaluation by GLOs but have reservations
about using this method for school visits, how many of you evaluate school
visits using GLOs, and what are your feelings about GLOs?
All ideas, comments, sugestions gratefully appreciated!
