Greetings GEM folk
I often get enquiries from cultural and educational staff about film that features people of African Caribbean descent or represents the history of the African Caribbean community in the UK. As a result I've devised a course around our public archive access facility, the Mediatheque at the BFI SOUTHBANK in Waterloo, London. The Mediatheque allows the public, free access to a wide range of collections of archive film and TV. The 'Black Britain' collection in the Mediatheque features films amd TV programmes made by or representing the African Caribbean community experience in the UK, from the earliest cinema to recent cutting edge TV drama. It also offers a unique angle on the history of film and television.
