An Introduction to Image Metadata (21st November 2008)
This course is designed specifically to help you consider how to effectively
incorporate metadata into the fabric of your image collection, through
explanation, discussion and practical activities.
Essential Techniques in Digital Image Capture (27th November 2008)
This entry level course provides an easy to understand theoretical overview of
digital images and image capture, combined with practical exercises using both
a scanner and digital SLR camera for those getting started with creating
digital images.
Digital Photography ? Taking Control of your SLR (3rd December 2008)
This information packed course looks in depth at using a digital SLR’s creative
controls to put you in charge of your photography. You will also have plenty
of hands-on practice with the camera (provided) and be shown how to
effectively illuminate 2D and 3D objects using tungsten and fluorescent studio
lighting.
Essential Photoshop Skills (17th December 2008)
This course will get you up and running with Adobe Photoshop. You will learn
key concepts and skills to enable you to understand and start using this
exciting application with confidence.

The Spring 2009 schedule will be published shortly and will include several
exciting new courses:
Lightroom 2.0
Edit and manage your images effectively and efficiently in one application.
You will learn about and be able to utilise the many benefits of the Raw/DNG
file formats including totally non-destructive image editing! Using Lightroom
you can effortlessly manage thousands of images and store and retrieve the
images you need within seconds.
Digitising analogue video recordings
This course will investigate best practice for the digitisation of analogue
videotapes including the identification and preparation of tapes, playback and
optimisation of the video signal, digitising video content and digital video file
management. Quality assurance procedures and basic metadata handling will
also be covered.
Audio Production: Recording Lectures, Seminars, Interviews and Podcasts
This course will provide essential theory and hands-on practice for those
seeking to produce audio recordings of their own or other people’s events. It
will follow a typical workflow covering the entire process of creating new
media and will give attendees the requisite knowledge and confidence to
produce quality recordings with ease.
Finding Free-to-use Images online
This course will teach you all the best places to locate free-to-use copyright
cleared images for use in both teaching and learning. You’ll never use Google
to find images again!
