MLA North East

2009)
Full contract value: £9,000 to include VAT and all costs
Strategic Commissioning is a key learning programme of the MLA
Partnership, supporting learning activity within archives and
museums. The programme, which has a focus on harder to reach
audiences and non-hub museums, is designed to synergise with
Renaissance education plans.
In the light of the closure of regional agencies the North East
Strategic Commissioning programme is geared towards maximising impact
and ensuring the sector is positioned to independently respond to
development opportunities such as the Cultural Offer initiative. This
project incorporates three distinct elements:
- Mapping of how museums and archives deliver to specific target
audiences within children and young people, special educational
needs, extended services, secondary aged pupils, Initial Teacher
Education, older young people
- Evaluation of how projects in Education Development strand meet
Local Area Agreement (LAA) outcomes and wider learning targets
- Advocacy support for partners in drafting written cultural "offers"
to different target groups within children and young people
It is anticipated that a combination of the intelligence gathered
during the mapping exercise and the written offers will underpin
future museums and archives education delivery to these groups. The
final report will be incorporated into the MLA library of research
and evidence.
