A local community museum i advise is thinking of scrapping entry fees and
becoming free. I am trying to find out if whether (generally speaking),
going free leads to a rise or fall in donations.
I have some anecdotal evidence that scrapping entry fees raises visitor
figures and keeps donation levels about the same level, but was wondering
if anyone had any sources of data to support this? MLA SW didn't seem to
have anything and other websites such as Visit Britain have good market
research but nothing specifically relating to small museums.
Can anybody help me? Anecdotal evidence would be fine if you don't know of
any statistics. But I'd be interested on your opinion of free entry too!
Best Wishes,
