Geographic Information Analyst – Central Bath
Geofutures Ltd is a fast-growing, innovative consultancy using Geographic
Information (GI) technology to deliver value-added data, analysis,
interactive mapping and unique web tools to a blue-chip client base spanning
the public and private sectors. It now seeks an ambitious individual to
apply numeracy, thoroughness, commitment and energy to help meet client needs.
The GI Analyst will perform analyses on a wide range of datasets, and help
the team deliver bespoke research, mapping and data visualisations to
clients and strategic partners, often to demanding deadlines. He or she will
be able to work effectively with database and IT development team members,
understanding their requirements and communicating accurately. Presenting
results logically and attractively in various formats is a key
responsibility; taking and understanding client briefs, pro-actively
planning workloads and delivering on time are also vital.
We’re looking for an individual educated to at least degree level in
mathematics, statistics, computer science, or geography (with a
mathematical/statistical background) or equivalent, with some relevant
workplace experience. GI-specific training can be offered although some
prior experience using these technologies is a distinct advantage.

Key contributions:
•Perform analyses of data using various GI tools and statistical methods
•Produce clear and attractive results visualisations using in-house
applications, Powerpoint, Excel and other packages as required
•Support the management of our data warehouse and the creation of composite
and value-added datasets
•Contribute to designing and improving analytical methods
•Show initiative and flexibility in supporting colleagues and delivering to
deadlines, including tasks outside main areas of responsibility.
Required competencies:
•Some relevant workplace experience in a commercial or government enterprise
•Strong workflow management skills, proven self-discipline and ability to
meet deadlines
•Absolute attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness and quality checking
•A high functional level of numeracy and confidence working with statistics
•Sound working knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
•Excellent spoken and written English, able to communicate clearly in
person, on the phone and in written materials
•Good teamwork, a flexible approach and positive can-do attitude
•Pro-activity, providing focused updates, contributing ideas and problem-solving
•The role is primarily office based, but a full EU driving licence is an
advantage and all employees are required to maintain a current passport.
Desirable competencies:
•Understanding of spatial statistics
•Working knowledge of GI and GIS technology
•Experience of collecting, cleansing, formatting, and managing data
•Creating graphics, animations etc in Macromedia Flash, Photoshop, Fireworks
or similar
•Working knowledge of Dreamweaver and/or html
Terms:
Hours: Full time.
Location: Central Bath, Somerset.
Working term: Permanent
Starting salary: Negotiable depending upon experience.
