Job Title: Heritage Touring Exhibition Coordinator
Location: Somerset County Museum, Taunton, Somerset
Hours: 15 Flexible working hours are possible and some evening and weekend
work may be necessary
Salary: £3,000 for 6 month contract

Somerset County Council's (SCC) Heritage Service works with a range
of audiences and partners to ensure increasing access for all to
their cultural heritage. As part of the HLF-funded Museum of
Somerset project, we want to further develop our partnership with
the Museums in Somerset (MiS) group. This comprises 55 volunteer-
run heritage organisations and museums across the county. We have a
Community Heritage and Museum Development Officer in post who will
supervise this project.
This project requires the postholder to develop and deliver the
Museums in Somerset touring exhibition ready for January 2009. This
is a key partnership project with lots of travel across Somerset.
There is scope for initiative and regular contact with people at all
levels and from different organisations. The ability to work across
Somerset is an essential.
Key tasks:
· Liaison with MiS staff, volunteers and collections.
· Liaison with designers, film-makers for the production of the display.
· Purchasing relevant equipment and materials through the SCC systems.
· Develop text and content for the display panels and object selection.
Qualifications, skills, knowledge:
· Educated to degree level. AMA desirable.
· Experience of working with volunteers essential.
· Experience of putting together exhibitions/displays for a range of
audiences, including writing text.
· Knowledge of MLA's `Inspiring Learning for All' framework, learning
styles and audience needs.
· Excellent communication and organisational skills essential.
