Dear Colleague
As part of their regional workshop programme, Netskills will be delivering the following web development workshops at Newcastle University in May:
1. Programming for Web Developers, 13th May
-----------------------------------------------------
Now you can finally get to grips with the fundamentals of web programming and add exciting, dynamic functionality to your web site. Having picked up the skills required to present web content using HTML and CSS, many developers find the move towards incorporating programming technologies within their web sites more challenging. This new workshop will explain the core web programming concepts and languages that you will need - to help you make that move with confidence!
2. PHP: Primed & Ready, 14th May
-----------------------------------------------------
Get to grips with the fundamentals of PHP, perhaps the most popular server scripting language in use today. PHP allows web developers to create fast, dynamic web applications that can interact with HTML forms, databases, XML documents, mail servers and much more. This workshop will guide you through the main features of the PHP environment and enable you to start building your own dynamic web
applications.
3. Fundamentals of Flash 8, 29th May
-----------------------------------------------------
Increasingly, web designers now wish to incorporate more than text and static images in their sites. Macromedia Flash provides a means of creating animated content that is optimised for web delivery. This can include elements such as animated graphics and text, as well as more sophisticated applications, such as tutorials and simulations.
4. Databases on the Web, 30th May
-----------------------------------------------------
Being able to integrate database technology with the provision of web content is now a common expectation for web site developers. Harnessing these techniques can improve the management, maintenance and scalability of your web sites. This practical workshop teaches you the skills needed to provide web access to existing databases - enabling you to start developing web sites using database-managed content with confidence.
