Sarah,
One starting point might be the list of schools who are participating in
Compton Verney's 52 Views project for which we developed a website.
The participating schools select a work in the collection that was
painted close to their own location. They then visit the location,
create their own versions of the work, upload that to the website and
visit the gallery to view and learn about the original.
See
http://www.comptonverney.org.uk/52views/?page=painting&pid=1
for an example.
