For GEM Scotland members, we have received notification from Learning
Teaching Scotland (LTS) that the draft experiences and outcomes for social
studies and expressive arts will be released on Monday 21 January on the
Curriculum for Excellence website.
www.curriculumforexcellencescotland.gov.uk
Documents have been circulated to provide information for all staff in all
education establishments on the context and scope of the draft outcomes;
they also explain what schools and centres should do with the draft
outcomes.
LTS are encouraging readers to reflect on these drafts and are now also
seeking feedback via a questionnaire located on the Curriculum for
Excellence website. Findings will be used to inform other aspects of the
programme, including CPD needs and will help shape the finalisation of
draft guidance.
The process and timescales for feedback are set out on the Curriculum for
Excellence website, which will be updated as each set of draft outcomes
and experiences is released. The Curriculum for Excellence website also
includes the anticipated timescale for release of the remaining outcomes.
This should help with the planning of CPD activity.
As GEM Scotland representative on the Heritage Education Forum (formerly
HEOG), I hope to take part in a meeting on 21 February meeting for a
preliminary discussion on how we (HEF) intend to respond, with a more
substantial discussion at April HEF meeting.
Any GEM Scotland members wishing to submit comments as part of the HEF
response please get in touch with me by 18 February.
