Dear GEM,
Where can I go for information on patterns/trends in visit numbers re
school visits to museums/cultural heritage sites (especially for the south
of england)?
I am shortly making a report on the number of school visits to our site on
the Isle of Wight. We have falling numbers (not massive but a slight
decline) in the last three years. I know there are many determining
factors (school budgets, risk assessment, planning of visits, changes in
NC etc...) I wondered if you could share your experience with me on the
subject generally so I have lots of ammunition when I deliver my report!
Also how many of you receive lots of visits from schools outside of your
authority/county - I mean schools who are staying in your area on a
residential visit? We get lots of these on the Isle of Wight (about 60-
70% of our visits are from schools elsewhere in the UK staying on the
island for a week). These too are falling - any thoughts on this?
I will post responses back to the list so if you don't want to whole list
to see your reply please let me know. Of course you don't need to share
exact figures as such.
Many thanks,
Lisa Kerley
