I have a specific question regarding the examination process and would welcome the reports of other institutions. In the case where there is a small pool of examiner, say for the practice-based doctoral design degree our current central admin prefers an examiner with a PhD over an examiner from the discipline without such a qualification, e.g. business PhD gets to judge a design doctorate. Specifically in reference to external examiner and practice-based doctorate have other institutions experienced this institutional mandate/demand or is somebody leading us down the garden path?
