I agree with the sans serif advice. Teachers I consulted for a previous
project suggested Comic Sans MS was the easiest to read.

For use in schools we go for 14pt text. Another "point" to bear in mind
is
legibility for sight impaired users. Use a sans serif font - I prefer
Arial
myself but there are others just as good.
So on this one I'm with your designers as it will make your guide much
easier to read - even if it's aimed at teachers.

Subject: Point size for education literature
Dear all,
A team of designers are currently working on our new teachers guide for
07/08, but I have some issues regarding the point size of the text and
wondered if anyone would share their advice.
I have been asked to insist on 12pt for the majority of the text (for
accessibility and legibility), but this will drastically alter the
design
and look of the leaflet and probably cost a lot more than we were
originally quoted.
What guidelines does everyone else follow for their literature? How do
you
balance the need for accessibility with good design?
Thank you in advance!
