Access and Learning Development Officer
for the Surrey, East & West Sussex Sub-region (SEWS ALDO)
Salary: £24,700 - £26,900
1 year fixed term contract (with the possibility of extension)
Based at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery, Worthing, West Sussex
The Museums Development Service for the Surrey, East & West Sussex, Brighton and Hove (SEWS) provides advice and support to Registered and Accredited museums throughout the sub-region, as part of the regional Renaissance in the Regions programme.
This post is jointly funded by the Renaissance South East Museum Development Fund, and MLA South East's Strategic Commissioning programme, and hosted by the County Record Office, West Sussex County Council County Secretary's Directorate
You will provide advice and support to help museums in the counties of Surrey, East & West Sussex, and Brighton & Hove Unitary Authority (SEWS) improve access to their services and develop their learning provision and advocate the value of learning and community development to both museums and key stakeholders.
With a postgraduate museums or teaching qualification you will have extensive experience of access and learning in a museum context and significant demonstrable experience of working in the museums or wider heritage sector. You will be able to demonstrate project and budget management skills, have sound knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational learning and access issues, and have experience of working constructively with a wide variety of client groups, especially volunteers.
You will be required to travel throughout the sub-region, and occasionally into the wider South East region or beyond. You may also be required to work out-of-hours on an occasional basis, for which time off in lieu will be given.
