My kid in Scotland follows the season by computer, which may be a
definition of exile.
So I'm walking with my brother through a ratty neighborhood in Havana
when a skinny guy on a rickety bike stops, thunderstruck by my
brother's yankees cap. "I've got the whole uniform," he says.
"Everything but the hat. Will you sell it to me?" My brother, without
blinking an eye, gives it to him, and the guy practically kisses his
hand. That's what you call a fan.
