Dear Sue,
In my previous post with Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery, I worked closely with two sites of Gypsy Travellers and then two families assisted me in leading creative workshops themselves. This led to an extended residency, resulting in contemporary artwork inspired by Gypsy Traveller culture and history and including the teaching and learning of many traditional skills.
The lead artist was Henry Elliot, who then went on to appear on Home Truths with the late John Peel as a result of this project, to talk about the benefits and challenges of living as a Gypsy Traveller in 21st century UK.
I'm afraid I don't have his contact details here, but I'm sure that Katrina Burton at Tunbridge Wells would be able to help you. Meanwhile, if you wanted further details about how the project evolved, etc. I'd be delighted to speak with you further.
Kind regards,
Susan

Subject: Gypsy Traveller event
Dear All,
i am hoping to organise a Gypsy Traveller week for schools and a weekend event at Worcestershire County Museum (we have a collection of Gypsy Caravans) and would like to know if anyone can recommend any artists, musicians and storytellers on this theme?
Very grateful for any help. This list is fab!
Best wishes,
Sue Pope
