March 7/07 -- Update on museum accommodation of adults' self-directed
learning projects.
Thank you for your thoughtful responses to my question. I've compiled
all the responses received to date into a text document that I will be

I am now trying to make sense of all that I have gleaned from the
literature (particularly the work of John Falk et. al. on free-choice
learning), from my own research with docents and historical
interpreters, and from your suggestions. It is a definite "groan zone"
but I am confident something interesting will emerge given a bit of
time! Thanks again for your help in pushing my thinking along. I am more
and more convinced that the future of museums is as learning resources
rather than teaching institutions -- but that may be my own age and
stage predominating. Always happy to continue the discussion.
Once again, thank you all. Much appreciated.
Cheers,
Chris
