Engaging secondary science students in museums
Real World Science is a partnership between the Natural History Museum,
the Manchester Museum, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History and
Tyne & Wear Museums, funded by the DfES/DCMS Strategic Commissioning
Education Programme. Following on from the publication of the consultative
report ‘How can natural history museums support secondary science teaching
and learning?’ the partnership would like to offer a series of free, one
day conferences exploring ways in which museums with natural history
collections can support the secondary science curriculum and engage and
inspire students to progress in scientific study.
Conference venues will each have a range of speakers covering the breadth
of:
- Consultation results, looking at what secondary science teachers want
from museums.
- Matching the science curriculum (KS3 to AS/A-Level) to your museum
collections, galleries and expertise.
- Case studies: developing resources and programmes for secondary students
across life and earth sciences.
