Subject: Museums and Galleries Month - Promotion with Superbreak -
Information please
Marketing/PR Managers/Hubs/Regional/National Agencies/MGM Coordinators
Superbreak is UK's leading shortbreak operator, catering for families as
well as couples on weekend breaks to city/regional destinations throughout
the UK. They are already featuring MGM2006 in their current brochure.
We now have an exciting opportunity for some joint promotion in the national
press with Superbreak, both reader offers and editorial. For this we need a
range of events, special activities, promotions etc available during MGM in
any part of the country.
We already have information from many of you on the events you are planning
for Museums and Galleries Month this year, but to make the most of this
opportunity we want to make sure that we have not missed some great event or
promotion in the planning stage.
The type of activities that will work best for the promotion will be
innovative or unusual and appealing to visitors (families and/or couples)
from another part of the country. This could be an outstanding Welcome
Weekend involving several museums or a range of unusual activities; a
Museums at Night event on Saturday 20 May; events around the Focus on Art
days; festivals such as the Festival of Giants planned in the West Midlands,
and special promotions such as the passport scheme planned in Yorkshire.
This is a great chance for your region, city, museum or gallery to get free
national promotion (and additional visitors), but we need information from
you by close of play on Friday 24 February. We will then work with
Superbreak to develop the programme of offers.
Working with Borders
As you will have seen from the latest MGM Email Bulletin, we are now working
with Borders on a national promotion through their stores during May. More
information will follow on this.
Send your information to Nicola Dodd, Truda Spruyt or Victoria Harris
