medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I searched NewAdvent diligently for consecration of just about everything
and came up empty. I did find this at dogpile from the Book of Common
Prayer. Scroll down a bit and you'll find something about a bishop knocking
on the door. It may be what you're thinking of; however it has nothing to do
with a new bishop or his consecration. I was fortuitously present at the
presentation of the new bishop of Reims to his flock one year, but did not
notice if anyone knocked:
