Dear Colleagues
The Centre for Transport & Society at the University of West England,
Bristol is currently undertaking a 'Rapid Evidence Assessment' of the
international evidence about the Distributional Impacts of Road Pricing. The
client is the UK Government Department for Transport.
We would be grateful to hear of any sources of evidence that you think we
may miss, perhaps because an item is not published (yet), or is published in
an unusual or hard-to-identify place for UK transport academics!
The deadline for items to be included in the review is mid-March.
Please note that the review is prioritising:
- empirical evidence about actual attitudes, behaviour and experiences
relating to distributional impacts in the context of road pricing schemes
which have been implemented, will be implemented, or came very close to
being implemented (e.g. Edinburgh);
- evidence about impacts which identify or contrast particular social
groups (including different income bands, age groups etc.), although the
wider evidence on impacts on the economy could be relevant if it has clear
distributional consequences;
- more theoretical work, if it explicitly addresses distributional
implications and the conclusions are sufficiently robust to be immediately
relevant for the needs of policymakers.
Naturally, however, feel free to send details of items you think may be
relevant and we will examine against our remit.
Many thanks in advance for your assistance,
Graham
