New Netskills Workshop - Programming for Web Developers
--------------------------------------------------------
Dear Colleague,
This new workshop from Netskills provides a comprehensive
introduction to web programming for beginners.
Authoring dynamic applications for use on your web site can
be achieved using a wide range of available technologies
including JavaScript, PHP, ASP, JSP or Java. Before
exploring these languages in-depth web developers first need
to acquire a core fundamental understanding of the
principles and techniques of both designing and authoring
their own applications.
Topics covered include:
* Introduction to web programming languages and environments
* Selecting programming technologies for web development projects
* Programming fundamentals (variables, loops, conditionals...)
* Practical programming for web applications
* Script repositories - the pitfalls (& benefits) of using someone else's code
Workshop attendees will plan and author a simple web application as part of the day.
The workshop will run at following venues:
* Leeds Metropolitan University (March 27th)
* Oxford University (April 11th)
* University of Newcastle (April 19th)
