That is very generous. I have noticed as I've moved from engineering to
medicine and now into design that there is a (comparative) paucity of
design research texts (perhaps except in grpahic design) dealing with
the specific issues facing designers. I intend to acknowledge all
material offerings in any course development, writing up (for
publication), and also perhaps feed back to the forum on what academic
design literacy (as opposed to professional) might mean in this context.
This is also part of a more general connection with the nature of higher
degree research in design and what it means and curriculum models.

Dear Gavin and all,
Last fall, Joao Lutz invited me to deliver a research writing workshop
at the
3rd International Conference on Design Research in Rio de Janeiro.
For the workshop, I prepared two documents. One contains the slides for
the
main workshop. While this is primarily rubrics and headlines, it
offers
useful information in terms of issues, topics, and skills. The other is
an
article on citation and reference, with useful information on a
detailed
level.
While I've been meaning to revise and improve these further, they are
available in their current state for anyone who wishes them as PDF
files.
If you wish a copy, please post an email to

The faculty of design at Swinburne Uni (AUS) nees to firm up its
coursework research methods and writing one semester program for new
design research students. I have developed programs like this for
engineering and medicine but I would like to know if British or
American
colleagues have examples of how this is done in other institutions as
I
want to remodel the curriculum. Many thanks.
