International Conference:
Ascribing Value, The Production and Collection of Architectural Drawings
3 & 4 February 2006
Lecture Theatre
V&A
We are holding a two day international conference at the V&A aimed at students, academics and practitioners of architecture and architectural history. The conference explores the culture that has built up around the making, collection and uses of architectural drawings. Speakers from different worlds come together for the first time - from the academic world, from architectural practice, some are private collectors, others represent world-class institutions like the Getty Research Institute.
The structure of the conference enables delegates not only to hear and respond to papers from this exciting range of international speakers, but also to attend small seminars with experts looking at original drawings and artefacts in depth. There are plenty of opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with other delegates, including a special Friday night reception, and conference lunches.
There is a special student rate of £16 a day, which includes lunch and an invitation to the Friday night reception. Any tutor booking for a group of 10 or more student receives a free place, worth £94 for two days. To book tickets call 020 7942 2211 (open daily), or email [log in to unmask]
14.00 Lunchtime Seminars
These seminars will take place during the two hour lunch sessions - long enough to combine lunch (provided) with a visit to the Architecture gallery and participation in one of the seminars. Each seminar will take 45-60 minutes. Spaces are free to conference attendees, but limited. Book tickers via the V&A Bookings Office 0207 942 2211.
