I highly recommend "Analecta Hymnica", a comprehensive index of just about
everything pertaining to LIturgical music. It is text only, no mention of
tunes, &c. There are copious footnotes as to multiple sources, and
variants found in different sources. Many libraries with large
"humanities" divisions should have the work. It was originally 52
volumes, but a more recent reprint includes another 3 volumes of indeces.
Good luck.
