alas, it appears that this xoomer.virgilio.it site is set up such that linking
to the individual .jpgs from a direct url is disabled and all we get is a "You
are not authorized to view this page" error massage.
some sites do this to prevent "foreign" links, which can cause excessive
traffic on the site.
too smart for their own good, however, the owners of the site have failed to
put a "default.html" file in the directories where the .jpgs are stored, which
means that we can access the list of files by "walking" the url back:
xoomer.virgilio.it/larinoweb/foto/luoghi/chiese/duomo/
and then hitting the particular .jpg :

same thing applies here.

> The Y-shaped cross is said to be typical of the thirteenth century. Is
that so, or is some modification required?
Iconography is definitely not my Bag, but i don't think i've ever seen a
Christ on a Y-shaped cross before --maybe its appropriate for one of the
apostles or other martyrs, but not for Christ.
very curious.

again, only visible by the method i outlined above.
> Less impressive, though, than the similar arrangement at Trani:

well, that Trani example you showed us a few months ago is a hard one to
beat.
curious how different Italian cathedrals are from French ones (duh), by their
size, shape, texture and relationship to the city around them.
