medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear All,
Finally did I get connected to the new "Vulsearch" project.
http://vulsearch.sourceforge.net/
It looks very promising, but is demanding by the use of recent
extravagant programming, exclusively running on the latest
Miscrosoft Windows
(It did not connect at all on my old usual Netscape Navigator 4.7),
and as a consequence will be totally out of date in one-two years
time.
A good advise: Secure a complete download of the text file NOW,
it does never expire. Comes in a few seconds as a zip (1.6Mb), and
expands to a handy folder with the complete Latin Vulgate in Books,
all together only 4.6 MB - quite amazing.
I have already a Latin version once available from the Universiteit
Groeningen (download 1997) - and did recently supplement it with one
unspecified 'Vulgate' available on http://www.chez.com/biblefr/vulgate/
The Groningen Version was not medieval, but 'iuxta septuagesima emendatum'
By converting some of the books to a FileMaker Database and combine
the two versions did it to my great surprise look as if the two are
almost identical.
Can somebody please tell me what they 'really' are, and if they are
related to the Beuron/Stuttgart edition? None of the two are mentioned
on the site: http://www.le.ac.uk/elh/grj1/linksa.html
(The Groeningen University site has been closed for several years now)
Thanks
Erik
