But May 27th is the traditional feast day for Bede. And is so kept outside
of the Roman Communion and the U.S.Episcopalians.
It is listed as May 27 in the Missal and in the Breviary of the Anglican
Catholic Church. For Matins, my Breviary has the Gospel lesson from Matthew
5:13 ("Ye are the salt of the earth") which is followed by Bede's homily
"Vos estis sal terrae".
Antiphon on Magnificat:
O Doctor right excellent, + O light of Holy Church, O Venerable Bede, thou
blessed lover of the divine law, * entreat for us the Son of God, alleluia.
At least we know that Bede died on a Wednesday, as his death was on the
Vigil of the Ascension, which is on the Thursday following the Fifth Sunday
after Easter.
Arthur Holder's translation of "De Tabernaculo" is quite good. _On the
Tabernacle_, trans. Arthur Holder. Translated Texts for Historians Series,
18.Liverpool: Liverpool University Press, 1994. In fact, that whole series
deserves attention.
