Hello All,
many of you will know about the CETIS Briefing series, if you don't than
take a look at <http://www.cetis.ac.uk/static/briefings.html> where you
will find short introductions to many of the educational specifications
that CETIS SIGs support. For a long time I've felt guilty about there
not being any briefings relevant to the metadata sig, but I'm now doing
something about that.
I've written a CETIS briefing on the LOM / IMS Meta-data, you can see a
draft of it at <http://www.icbl.hw.ac.uk/~philb/temp/lombriefing/>(*) :
the pdf file (WhatIsLOM...) shows the layout, the Word file
(LOM_Briefing...) is a slightly later version with some proposed changes
to fix problems with the layout. I would really appreciate it if some
of you could take a look at one or other of these and let me know what
you think of it: if you're a metadata expert you can let me know whether
it is technically accurate, if you're new to the LOM you can let me know
whether it makes any sense to you. Any comments welcome.
Thanks in advance, Phil.
* please note, this is only a temporary home for this briefing.
