Hello Everyone
Apologies for cross-posting.
Back in September, the DCMI (Dublin Core Meta-data Initiative) Group ran a
survey about the use of Accessibility Meta-data. The results of that
survey are now available from http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-
bin/surveys.cgi?A=hp&LMGT1=DC-ACCESSIBILITY (go to "Concluded Surveys" and
select "Use of Accessibility Metadata" from the drop down box).
Unfortunately, the survey results are not very accessible (the results are
produced in graphical format and the Excel option at the bottom of that
page needs a little sifting through).
Although only seven people completed the survey, it is interesting to note
that those people who do use a form of accessibility meta-data do so to
record WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) assessments and that
people are interested in being given guidelines on how to record
accessibility meta-data.
IMS have recently published their AccessForAll Meta-data Specification,
which defines the meta-data that can be used to describe a learning
resource's accessibility and its ability to match a learner’s
preferences. It can be downloaded free of charge from
http://www.imsglobal.org/accessibility/#accmd.
Happy New Year.
Best Regards,
Sharon.
