Subject: Join our first 2006 training day - an invitation from
IMTAL-Europe
Dear GEM Listmembers,
As one of the directors of IMTAL-Europe, the International Museum Theatre
Alliance, I would like to invite you to join our next training day in York
next year.
The day, hosted by Paul Bisson at the National Railway Museum in York, will
focus on indoor collections (advisable in January!), looking at how to
attract non-traditional audiences to traditionally male-orientated
science/technology museums such as NRM through theatre/live interpretation.
We'll have demonstrations of live interpretation in situ in the morning and
will be working on different techniques in workshops all afternoon. IMTAL
directors Jo Kemp and Verity Walker will be leading the day. We can promise
you hard work, good fun and great networking!
Timetable: arrival 10.00 onwards, coffee from 10.30, day commences 10.45
with demonstrations and discussion. Lunch (provided - there will be some
vegetarian food but please specify any other food requirements - at 12.30.
Scripting/performance workshops 1.15 - 3.30. Round-up and tea and depart by
4.15.
Places are quite limited due to space constraints so please book soon if you
want to attend, and no later than 30th December. Our charges are £15 for
GEM members which includes lunch. Confirm attendance to me by e-mail and
once I have replied to secure your place please send payment in advance to:
Jo Kemp, Membership Secretary, IMTAL Europe,
Nottingham City Museums & Galleries, Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, NG1 6EL.
It may also interest you to know that IMTAL-Europe's 2006
AGM/mini-conference will be held in Paris. This will take place in Friday
4th and Saturday 5th August 2006, and will be open to all IMTAL-Europe
members.
Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in York!
